August 8th - 12th
Peel in the Isle of Man has been a centre for maritime matters for centuries being famous for its herring fishery and kipper curing as well as up to 8 boatbuilding yards at one point.
Protected by its imposing medieval castle, this normally bustling harbour community has for 21 years now given itself over a weekend in August to the ‘Peel Traditional Boat Weekend’.
In 2013 we had the great pleasure of acting as the Irish Sea centre to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the OGA. All boats of the Irish Sea Areas of the OGA that could make it to Cowes can instead make their way to Peel. Members from NIOGA, DBOGA, N. Wales OGA, N. West OGA, Scotland OGA and Bristol Channel OGA were all welcome to this birthday party.
